A Book-to-Movie review: Divergent

Today's review will be on:

MY REVIEW

THE GOOD STUFF

Although they made a few small changes (which I only noticed after thinking for a long while), most of them made sense, and kept the story like it was in the book.

Shailene Woodley did an amazing job as Tris, she was almost exactly what I had imagined Tris to be like.

I was a little unsure about Theo James as Four, the boy we all fall for, but he played the part perfectly! I give him a 10 out of 4! :)

Veronica Roth even got a cameo in the film! I had to do a double-take!

THE PROBLEMS

The only real problems that I had with this movie was the soundtrack. It did not sound like the book or movie I loved at all. The original score is great, but I felt like the soundtrack should've been more rocker, less techno/electronic.

ALL IN ALL...

The book was rightfully portrayed in this film, and I can't wait to see it again!

A Book-to-Movie review: City of Bones

LE PROBLEMS

I actually noticed that there was something different about the movie from the gripping trailer. In the book, Clary is attacked by a demon and defeats it before Jace arrives on the scene (a little stretch, but it made sense, and also made Clary look stronger). In the movie/trailer, however, Clary is saved just in time by her knight in shining armor: Jace. When watching the movie, I did notice that she made several very good attempts at defeating the monster (which was less scary in my imagination), so at least they gave her that.

There is only one other problem I had with the movie, and that is that they introduced a power that Clary didn't even know she had until the second book. It makes me curious as to how they're going to make the second movie, if there is going to be one.

THE GOOD STUFF

Other than the two problems stated above, this movie followed the book. Jace and Clary fell in love, there was a lot of battles, etc. It was fun seeing something that was on a page and in my imagination as a real-life movie. I bet that when I read the next book in the series, I will imagine the actors and actresses doing the things that their characters do in future books.

I loved the way that they cast the characters as well. I was a little nervous about who they cast for Jace, but he ended up doing a really good job bringing Jace into the movie. Alec (pictured above) was a little hotter than I imagined him, but I'm not complaining. ;)
